Pole dancing has become increasingly popular over the years, and it's not hard to see why. It's a fun and challenging way to work out, providing both physical and mental benefits. However, for those who are new to pole dancing, the experience can be both exciting and intimidating, especially when deciding what to wear to a pole dancing class.
My First Pole Dance Experience
When you're going to your first pole dance class, it's important to wear comfortable and appropriate clothing. Some people prefer to wear sportswear gear, while others choose proper pole wear with heels. When I went to my first class, I wore Nike shorts and a sports bra with an oversized t-shirt. However, I quickly learned that pole dancing involves a lot of skin-to-pole contact, and clothes come off quickly. Before I knew it, everybody was wearing as little as possible.
At first, I wasn't sure if I wanted to commit to buying pole clothing, as I wasn't sure if pole dancing was for me. However, I soon realized that choosing and buying your pole dance outfit can give you a sense of belonging to the community. It can also make you feel more confident and comfortable, which is essential when you're trying to master new moves.
How to Choose What to Wear to a Pole Dancing Class
When it comes to choosing the right pole dance outfit, there are many options to consider. Some people prefer very sexy clothing, while others have more sporty wear. I always felt more comfortable in sportier gear, but I never really fell in love with anything I bought. I preferred high-rise shorts, but they were always a bit too high, which made me feel uncomfortable.
Choosing the right pole dance outfit is not only about comfort and confidence, but it's also about expressing your style. Pole dancing is all about celebrating your body and embracing your sexuality, and your clothing can reflect that. Whether you prefer to wear something more conservative or more revealing, there is no right or wrong choice. The most important thing when picking what to wear to a pole dancing class is to pick something that you feel comfortable and confident in what you're wearing, which is exactly how F|Lux was born.
Pole Dance Shorts
That's why we created the High Rise Martini Pole Dance Shorts. These shorts are cut to the perfect height, providing you with perfect coverage without unnecessary rolling up and down of the pole shorts. The soft, buttery, and easy-to-wear material was something missing in the UK pole-wear market, and that's why it was important for us to make a product that does exactly that.
But, this may not be the right style for everyone. For those wanting more exposure, with that same buttery softness, we made the Low Rise Martini Pole Dance Shorts.
Pole Dance Sports Bras
Pole Dance is of course very dynamic, you need to move around the pole and the floor, contort into many shapes and sometimes end up upside-down. For this, it is important you feel comfortable & supported.
Our Sports Bras offer you the same luxury soft material, in the same stylish colour ways as our shorts, in two distinct styles - Helix Twist or Strappy Back.
What About Getting to a Pole Dancing Class?
I've shared my experience of what to wear to a pole dancing class, but depending on your routine or journey to your pole class, you may want a more casual look, or need something a little bit warmer. We created a set of super comfy Leggings (with a handy pocket) and a complimenting Top to allow you to enhance your look outside of the studio, or in your Yoga or Aerials class too. These also look & feel great when hanging out with friends.
Feel Comfortable No Matter What You Wear
Altogether, attending your first pole dance class can be a daunting experience, but it doesn't have to be. With the right mindset and proper clothing, you can make the most out of your first pole dance experience.
Whether you choose to wear sportswear or proper pole wear with heels, the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident.
Remember that everyone is at a different level, and nobody is judging you. So go out there, have fun, and embrace your unique self. #Fluxfamily
